Entry into force of the EFTA-Israel revised bilateral agricultural agreements
The revised EFTA-Israel bilateral agricultural agreements, signed on 22 November 2018 in Geneva, Switzerland entered into force on 1 August 2021.
The revised agreements will increase opportunities for importers and exporters in key products for the EFTA States and Israel while preserving domestic sensitivities.
Joint Decisions 1/2018, amending Protocol A on Processed Agricultural Products and 2/2021, amending Annex I on product coverage entered into force simultaneously.
Trade between EFTA and Israel amounted to EUR 1.5 billion in 2020, with approximately 5% achieved by trade in agricultural products. EFTA’s main exports to Israel were coffee, tobacco, cocoa, and different food preparations. The EFTA States mainly imported fruits and nuts from Israel, mostly citrus fruits, mangoes, and guavas.
Further information on EFTA-Israel trade can be found with the EFTA Trade Statistics Tool.
