Global Assessment of National Statistical Office of Turkmenistan

The EFTA Statistical Office in cooperation with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and State Committee on Statistics of Turkmenistan (Türkmenistanyň Statistika baradaky döwlet komiteti) have conducted a mission to Ashgabat for the 2022 Global Assessment of National Statistical Office of Turkmenistan.

The expert panel, consisting of two EFTA and two UNECE experts, was welcomed by the National Statistical Institute of Turkmenistan from the 23th to the 27th of May 2022. EFTA members of the Assessment Team were Volker Täube, director of ESO, and Marius Andersen, Deputy of ESO.

The second mission is expected to take place online end of July 2022 and the final report to be finalised during summer 2022.

Global Assessments are stocktaking exercises conducted regularly on request of National Statistical Offices. These assessments evaluate institutional and legal organisation, as well as statistical production according to the European Statistics Code of Practice (ESCoP) or the UN Fundamental Principles of Statistics (FPoS).
