Andorran Minister visits the EFTA Secretariat

On Monday 24 February, the Andorran Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maria Ubach Font, visited the EFTA Secretariat in Geneva and met with Deputy Secretary-General Pascal Schafhauser.
During the meeting, Minister Ubach Fontreported on the status of Andorra’s ongoing negotiations and the recent decision to establish a State Secretariat for European Affairs under the newly appointed State Secretary Landry Riba.
Minister Ubach Font also used the opportunity to thank the Secretariat for organising the study trip for Andorran officials at the EFTA Secretariat in Brussels last autumn. The participants were very pleased with the in-depth content of the visit and the possibility to send another group of officials - ideally again in connection with the biannual EEA Seminar - would be highly appreciated.
"The biannual EEA Seminar is a good opportunity to get a comprehensive understanding of the work of the EFTA Secretariat, the management of the EEA Agreement, and a great opportunity for networking," she said.
The Secretariat’s knowledge and experience in handling EU Acquis from the preparatory phase until incorporation into the EEA Agreement was an important source of information. It would be an inspiration when it comes to Andorra’s envisaged agreement with the EU.
