A recent Eurostat publication on inflation shows that Iceland’s annual inflation rate in September 2011 was the highest in the European Economic Area (EEA) at 5.5%. Switzerland's annual inflation rate in September was the lowest in the EEA at 0.2%, increasing from -0.3% in August.

Norway and Switzerland have had relatively low and stable annual inflation rates so far in 2011. Switzerland’s annual inflation rate in September 2011 of 0.2% represents a slight decrease in comparison to 0.3% in September 2010. For Norway, the annual inflation rate was 1.6%, compared to 1.4% the previous year. The EU annual inflation rate in September 2011 was 3.3%, compared to 2.3% the year before.
