EFTA Secretary-General Kurt Jӓger and Deputy Secretary-General Markus Schlagenhof met with the President of the European Chamber of Commerce in Korea (ECCK) Stefan Ernst on 25 October 2024 in Geneva, on the occasion of the annual publication of the ECCK White Paper.

The ECCK represents the interests of European businesses in Korea from both the EU and the EFTA States.

During the meeting, the ECCK President officially submitted the White Paper, which includes over 70 key issues across 17 committees to be recommended to the Korean Government. The parties then exchanged views on recent policy developments in both the EFTA States and Korea, bilateral economic relations and opportunities for future collaboration, with the aim of further strengthening EFTA–Korea free trade relations.

The Republic of Korea is one of EFTA’s most important trading partners, ranking as EFTA’s fifth largest export partner and seventh largest import partner for goods. Total trade value between EFTA and Korea amounted to USD 7.24 billion in 2022.
