EFTA and India pursue free trade negotiations

The EFTA States and India met for their 11th round of negotiations on a broad-based free trade agreement from 5 to 7 March 2012 in New Delhi.
During this round, further steps were made towards fully-fledged negotiations on market access for industrial and agricultural products as well as services. Other topics discussed included trade in fish and other marine products, rules of origin, government procurement and sustainable development.
The negotiating teams, led by State Secretary Marie-Gabrielle Ineichen-Fleisch from Switzerland on the EFTA side and Additional Secretary Rajeev Kher for India, agreed to meet again in May and hold intersessional expert talks in a number of areas.
