The EEA Joint Committee held its first meeting of the year on 14 February 2014.

The Committee adopted 28 decisions incorporating 52 legal acts into the EEA Agreement.

Among the acts incorporated were a regulation aimed at modernising and improving the European standardisation system, a prolongation of the so-called “general block exemption” for state aid until June 2014, and a regulation concerning the European rail network for competitive freight.

The Joint Committee, chaired this semester by the European External Action Service of the EU, is responsible for the day-to-day management of the EEA Agreement. It provides a forum for the EEA EFTA States and the EU to exchange views and take decisions by consensus to incorporate EU legislation into the EEA Agreement.
