EFTA's mission to strengthen economic cooperation is vital for fostering sustainable prosperity and peace,” stresses EFTA Secretary-General Henri Gétaz, looking back on a year of significant international challenges.
The EFTA Secretariat's 2022 Annual Report, published in May 2023, provides a comprehensive account of the Secretariat’s hard work and accomplishments over the past year. It contains an overview of the functions and activities of EFTA throughout 2022 in the areas of managing the EEA Agreement, EFTA’s worldwide network of Free Trade Agreements and the EFTA Convention.
In 2022, eased restrictions allowed a return to a “new normal”. EFTA continued to expand, update and develop its worldwide network of free trade agreements. Among the most significant milestones were the launch of negotiations with Kosovo and re-launch with Thailand. Numerous events were hosted at EFTA House, the Secretariat’s new home in Brussels. This included for the first time ever on EFTA premises, the biannual EEA Council, as well as a conference on the Future of Financial Services in the European Economic Area (EEA). Moreover, the EFTA Statistical Office organised two technical cooperation events, one on the Future of Work, and one on facilitating the development of financial account.
The Report is available both as an interactive online version and a printable pdf version (also suitable for c/p):
