EFTA and Pakistan hold first Joint Committee meeting

Ambassador Peter Matt, Permanent Representative of Liechtenstein in Geneva, acted as the EFTA Spokesperson, while H.E. Mr Mohammad Younus Dagha, Federal Secretary of Commerce, led the delegation from Pakistan.

The Joint Committee reviewed developments in bilateral trade and investment flows, exchanged information on activities in the field of preferential trade agreements and discussed possibilities for closer cooperation.

The JDC between the EFTA States and Pakistan was signed on 12 November 2012. Merchandise trade between the EFTA States and Pakistan has grown at a steady pace during the last decade, averaging 3.2% per year since 2007 and reaching USD 588 million in 2016. EFTA’s leading exports to Pakistan include pharmaceutical products, machinery and mechanical products and organic chemicals, while clothing, apparel and textiles are leading imports.
