On 1 February, the EEA-Lex service was upgraded to offer new functionalities, such as graphical timelines, quick and advanced search forms, and the inclusion of proposed EU acts with possible EEA relevance.

EEA-Lex offers information on EU law that has been extended to the European Economic Area (EEA) or is under consideration for extension. It now also includes EU draft legislation with possible EEA relevance, i.e. proposals still under discussion in the European Parliament and the Council, as well as draft implementing and delegated acts in their final stages.

In a default quick search form, users can search for all types of data, e.g. words in titles, texts in Icelandic and Norwegian translations, and the reference numbers of legal acts. For more specific needs, an advanced search form is available. In addition, results can be refined by using filter categories.
Each of the fact sheets have been equipped with a graphical timeline, showing where the legal act currently stands in the decision-making process, with further details to be found in a chronological history section.

EEA-Lex is updated daily using data from EFTA’s internal legal database.

Since the entry into force of the EEA Agreement more than 20 years ago, nearly all EU legislation covering the Internal Market has been extended to Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. In total, more than 10 000 EU directives, regulations and decisions have been made part of the Agreement, of which around 5 000 are in force today. At the same time, a number of new acts are currently under consideration for incorporation.
