EFTA and Malaysia resume free trade negotiations

Delegations from the EFTA States and Malaysia convened from 25 to 28 February 2020 in Kuala Lumpur for the ninth round of negotiations on an Economic Partnership Agreement. Ms Sumathi Balakrishnan, Senior Director at the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, headed the Malaysian delegation while Ambassador Markus Schlagenhof from Switzerland acted as the EFTA spokesperson.

EFTA and Malaysia to start free trade negotiations

The Member States of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland – and Malaysia today announced the launching of negotiations on a comprehensive free trade agreement between the two sides.

EFTA and Malaysia sign Joint Declaration on Cooperation

The four EFTA States (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland) and Malaysia signed a Joint Declaration on Cooperation (JDC) on 20 July 2010 in Geneva. Through the JDC, both sides commit to further enhancing their bilateral economic relations. A Joint Committee will meet periodically to discuss relevant issues.
