EFTA Statistical Office participates in the European Conference on quality in official statistics

From 8 to 10 June, the EFTA Statistical Office (ESO) participated in the European Conference on quality in official statistics organized by Statistics Lithuania and Eurostat, in Vilnius, Lithuania. The purpose of the conference was to exchange new ideas, experiences and good practices on quality in official statistics. Furthermore, conference brought together statisticians, academics and stakeholders to reinforce the dissemination of knowledge and recent research on emerging questions related to quality in official statistics

EFTA Statistical Office was represented by Volker Täube, director of ESO, and Marius Andersen, Deputy of ESO.

On the first day of the conference, Marius Andersen gave a presentation during the session about new roles of NSI in the new data ecosystem. He presented the role of NSIs in the new European Data Framework created by the European Strategy for Data. Furthermore, the presentation looked into possible implications on the role of NSIs and the coordination in the national statistical systems when NSIs take on data steward functions.
