EEA Joint Committee adopts two urgent COVID-related decisions

On 6 August 2020, the EEA Joint Committee adopted two urgent COVID-19 related Joint Committee Decisions (JCDs). One of them is intended to enable treatment or prevention of coronavirus disease, the other to ensure that same State aid rules apply within the whole EEA with regards to a COVID-19 outbreak.

The EFTA Standing Committee and the EEA Joint Committee convened on 29 and 30 April respectively. During the Joint Committee meeting 18 decisions were adopted, incorporating 47 legal acts into the EEA Agreement.

EEA Joint Committee adopts Decisions related to COVID-19

On 3 April, the EEA Joint Committee adopted by written procedure* two Decisions related to COVID-19. The two Decisions concern official controls on the agri-food chain and suspension of the airline slot requirements. The adopted Decisions entered into force immediately as there were no constitutional requirements to be fulfilled.
