EEA EFTA Prime Ministers will meet all EU leaders to mark 25 years of the EEA

The Prime Ministers of the EEA EFTA States – Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway – have been invited as guests to the European Council to mark the 25th anniversary of the European Economic Area, the EEA. On this occasion, the three Prime Ministers will have an opportunity to exchange views with all EU leaders.

EEA EFTA Comment on the Rights and Values Programme

On 4 March, the three EEA EFTA States – Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway – submitted a joint EEA EFTA Comment on the European Commission’s proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the European Council establishing the Rights and Values Programme.

The Standing Committee of the EFTA States and the EEA Joint Committee met in Brussels for their first meetings this year on 7 and 8 February respectively. 29 decisions were adopted at the EEA Joint Committee, incorporating 62 EU legal acts into the EEA Agreement.

EEA EFTA Separation Agreement with the UK reached

The EEA EFTA States – Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway – and the United Kingdom have reached an agreement on protecting citizens’ rights and resolving separation issues as the UK exits the EU. This agreement largely mirrors the Withdrawal Agreement agreed with the EU in areas relevant under the EEA Agreement.
