On 4 March, the three EEA EFTA States – Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway – submitted a joint EEA EFTA Comment on the European Commission’s proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the European Council establishing the Rights and Values Programme.

The Standing Committee of the EFTA States and the EEA Joint Committee met in Brussels for their first meetings this year on 7 and 8 February respectively. 29 decisions were adopted at the EEA Joint Committee, incorporating 62 EU legal acts into the EEA Agreement.

EEA EFTA Separation Agreement with the UK reached

The EEA EFTA States – Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway – and the United Kingdom have reached an agreement on protecting citizens’ rights and resolving separation issues as the UK exits the EU. This agreement largely mirrors the Withdrawal Agreement agreed with the EU in areas relevant under the EEA Agreement.

EEA Joint Parliamentary Committee discusses Brexit, artificial intelligence and European Labour Authority

The EEA Joint Parliamentary Committee (EEA JPC) convened in the European Parliament in Strasbourg on 12 and 13 December 2018. High on the agenda were discussions on Brexit and the EEA, artificial intelligence, the European Pillar of Social Rights and the European Labour Authority.

EEA EFTA Forum adopts opinions on 'Whistleblower protection' and participation in EU programmes 2021-2027

On 6 and 7 of December 2018, the EEA EFTA Forum of Local and Regional Authorities convened in Brussels for its 18th meeting. The Forum adopted two opinions: one on the European Commission’s proposal on Whistleblower Protection, and one on the participation of municipalities and regions of the EFTA States in the EU programmes for 2021-2027.
