EFTA Parliamentarians discuss the impact of COVID-19 on trade and global value chains

On 8 June, the EFTA Parliamentary Committee (EFTA PC) convened through videoconference under the Chairmanship of Svein Roald Hansen, Member of the Norwegian Parliament. The parliamentarians met to discuss the impact of COVID-19 on trade and global value chains and to prepare for the exchange with the EFTA Ministers later in the day. Members of the EFTA Consultative Committee were also invited to take part in the meeting.

On 4 February 2020 the EFTA Parliamentary Committee convened in Brussels under the chairmanship of Svein Roald Hansen, Member of the Norwegian Parliament. The parliamentarians gathered for a full day of meetings to discuss the EU and EFTA trade policies, the future relations with the United Kingdom (UK) and the multilateral trading system.

On Wednesday 20 November, the EFTA Parliamentary Committee (EFTA PC) and the EFTA Consultative Committee (EFTA CC) had a joint meeting with the Ministerial Chair of the EFTA Council, Torbjørn Røe Isaksen, the Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry; and the Icelandic Minister of Foreign Affairs, Guðlaugur Þór Þórðarson. Switzerland and Liechtenstein were represented at ambassadorial level.

The EFTA Consultative Committee (EFTA CC) convened in Brussels on 19 and 20 November 2019. The EFTA CC is an advisory body that brings together representatives of employers’ associations and trade union confederations in the four EFTA countries.
