  • Ministers meet with Parliamentary and Consultative Committees   19.11.2014

    On 19 November 2014, the EFTA Parliamentary and Consultative Committees met with EEA EFTA Ministers in Brussels. This annual meeting takes place in connection with the EEA Council and provides an opportunity for the two advisory bodies to discuss the latest developments in the EEA with the Ministers.

  • EFTA Ministers and Parliamentarians meet with Deputy US Trade Represenative   17.11.2014

    On 17 November 2014, Mr Michael Punke, Deputy US Trade Representative and US Ambassador to the World Trade Organization, took part in a joint session between the EFTA Parliamentary Committee and the EFTA Ministers. Discussions touched upon the status of negotiations between the US and the EU on a Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP).

  • Two opinions adopted by the EEA EFTA Forum   28.06.2014

    At its ninth meeting, held in Grímsnes og Grafningshreppur, Iceland on 26-27 June 2014, the EEA EFTA Forum of Local and Regional Authorities adopted two opinions; one on the 2030 framework for climate and energy policies, and another on the opportunities and challenges for local and regional authorities in a changing Arctic.

  • Resolutions adopted on the Single Market and Energy and Climate 2030   02.04.2014

    EFTA parliamentarians met with members of the European Parliament in their biannual Joint Parliamentary Committee on 26 March 2014 in Reykjavik. The Committee adopted resolutions on Single Market Governance and Energy and Climate Policy Towards 2030.

  • EFTA Parliamentary Committee visits Malaysia and Singapore   27.02.2014

    A delegation from the EFTA Parliamentary Committee visited Malaysia and Singapore from 16 to 21 February 2014 to promote and support trade cooperation with these countries. The delegation met with parliamentarians, ministers, and representatives of the business community and civil organisations.

    On 20 November, the EFTA Parliamentary and Consultative Committees met for a joint conference to discuss free movement of persons and the impact on the welfare state.

  • Advisory bodies meet with EFTA Ministers to discuss EEA and free trade   20.11.2013

    On 19 November 2013, the EFTA Parliamentary and Consultative Committees met with the EEA EFTA Ministers in Brussels. The Ministers gave a briefing on the outcome of the EEA Council that had taken place in the afternoon, and exchanged views with committee members on the main issues currently on the agenda in the EEA.

  • EEA EFTA Forum adopts opinions on re-use of public sector information and European waste policy   20.11.2013

    At its eighth meeting, held in Brussels on 18 and 19 November 2013, the EEA EFTA Forum of Local and Regional Authorities adopted two opinions: one on the revised EU Directive on the re-use of public sector information (the PSI Directive) and another on the revision of European waste policy, legislation and targets.

  • Social partners adopt resolutions on the Arctic and on youth unemployment   14.10.2013

    Members of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) and social partners from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway met in Rovaniemi, Finland on 10 and 11 October for the 21st meeting of the EEA Consultative Committee (EEA CC).

    At its seventh meeting, held in Bergen on 21 and 22 June 2013, the EEA EFTA Forum of Local and Regional Author­ities adopted three opinions: on the EEA & Norway Financial Mechanisms, the review of the European state aid framework and the European Port Policy review.
