  • Parliamentary and Consultative Committees meet with EFTA Ministers   18.11.2015

    On 17 November 2015, the EFTA Parliamentary and Consultative Committees met with EEA EFTA Ministers in Brussels. This annual meeting takes place in connection with the EEA Council and provides an opportunity for the two advisory bodies to discuss current issues in the EEA with the Ministers.

  • EEA EFTA Forum adopts opinion on local climate measures in the context of COP21   16.11.2015

    On 16 November, in the context of the upcoming Paris Climate Conference (COP21), the EEA EFTA Forum of Local and Regional Authorities adopted an opinion emphasizing the key role played by local and regional authorities in achieving and strengthening national climate change targets.

  • EEA EFTA Forum adopts opinion on free movement of persons and migration in the EEA   25.06.2015

    On 11 and 12 June 2015, the EEA EFTA Forum of Local and Regional Authorities held its eleventh meeting in Stange, Norway. At the meeting the Forum adopted an opinion on the free movement of persons and migration in the EEA.

  • Social partners adopt resolutions on TTIP and jobs and growth   08.06.2015

    Members of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) and social partners from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway met in Zagreb on 4 and 5 June 2015 for the 23rd meeting of the EEA Consultative Committee (EEA CC).

  • EFTA parliamentarians support stronger trade relations between EFTA and MERCOSUR   23.04.2015

    A delegation from the EFTA Parliamentary Committee visited Brazil from 15 to 17 April 2015 to support stronger trade relations between MERCOSUR and EFTA. The delegation met with the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and representatives of the Brazilian Parliament and business community.

  • EFTA Parliamentary Committee discusses TTIP in Washington   14.04.2015

    On 13 April 2015, members of the EFTA Parliamentary Committee participated in a panel debate in Washington to discuss the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) negotiations between the EU and the US and the possible implications for the EFTA Member States.

  • EFTA parliamentarians visit Turkey in support of a modernised free trade agreement   16.01.2015

    A delegation from the EFTA Parliamentary Committee visited Turkey from 12 to 14 January 2015 to promote and support trade cooperation with the country. The delegation met with the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, parliamentarians from Turkey and representatives of the business community.

  • EEA Joint Parliamentary Committee adopts resolution on the 2030 Energy and Climate Framework   18.12.2014

    At its meeting on 17 December 2014 in Strasbourg, the EEA Joint Parliamentary Committee adopted two resolutions: on the EU 2030 Energy and Climate Framework and on the Annual Report of the EEA Joint Committee on the functioning of the EEA Agreement in 2013

  • Social partners discuss free trade and TTIP with EFTA Chair   10.12.2014

    Meeting in Bern on 9 December 2014, the Consultative Committee, representing trade unions and employers’ organisations in the four member countries, was informed by Swiss Federal Councillor Johan N. Schneider-Amman, about the outcome of the last EFTA Ministerial and exchanged views on free trade issues, including the current EU-US negotiations for a Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP).

  • EEA EFTA Forum of Local and Regional Authorities adopted two opinions   25.11.2014

    On 24 and 25 November 2014, the EEA EFTA Forum of Local and Regional Authorities held its tenth meeting in Brussels. During the meeting two opinions were adopted: One on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) and one on the green employment initiative and the circular economy.
