    On Tuesday 19 November, the EFTA Parliamentary Committee and the EFTA Consultative Committee met with the Standing Committee of the EFTA States at ministerial level.

    On 14 and 15 October 2019, the EFTA Consultative Committee (EFTA CC) convened in Brussels for its 215th meeting.

    On 14 and 15 October 2019, the EFTA Consultative Committee (EFTA CC) convened in Brussels for its 215th meeting. The main point on the agenda was to adopt common positions on proposed amendments to the trade and sustainable development (TSD) chapter in EFTA free trade agreements. This was introduced at the EFTA Ministerial in Malbun, Liechtenstein, in June 2019. The adopted positions are sent to the EFTA Council, which is the highest governing body of EFTA. The proposals will be discussed at the meeting between the EFTA advisory bodies and the Ministerial Chair of the EFTA Council on 20 November in Brussels.

  • EFTA Parliamentarians on working visit in Brussels   09.10.2019

    On 9 October, Smári McCarthy (Althingi, the Icelandic Parliament), Chair of the EFTA Parliamentary Committee (EFTA PC), along with the heads of national parliamentary delegations from Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland, attended several meetings with prominent Members of the European Parliament (EP) in Brussels. They used this opportunity to introduce themselves to Mr Andreas Schwab, the new Chair of the EP Delegation responsible for relations with EFTA countries and the EEA Agreement (D-EEA Delegation).

    19th meeting of the EFTA Forum of Local and Regional Authorities in Hurdal, Norway

    Mayors and representatives of local and regional authorities from Iceland and Norway convened on 27-28 May, for the 19th meeting of the EFTA Forum of Local and Regional Authorities. The Minister for Environment of the canton of Jura, Switzerland, attended as an observer. Coming together in the scenic municipality of Hurdal, an hour north of Oslo, Norway, the meeting was moderated by the outgoing Chair of the EFTA Forum, Mr Nils Røhne, mayor of Stange municipality.

    On 24 May, the EEA Consultative Committee (EEA CC) met for a joint session with the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) Section for External Relations in Brussels, to mark the 25th anniversary of the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA).

    Social partners from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway and members of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) convened in Brussels on 23 May for the 27th meeting of the EEA Consultative Committee (EEA CC).

  • EFTA Parliamentary Committee on official visit to the Republic of Korea   26.04.2019
    The EFTA Parliamentary Committee met with Honourable Hong Ilpyo in the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea

    The EFTA Parliamentary Committee (EFTA PC) visited the Republic of Korea from 23 to 26 April 2019. The aim of the delegation visit was to support the efforts of the EFTA States to deepen and broaden trade relations with Korea by upgrading the current free trade agreement between both parties.

  • EFTA Consultative Committee discusses EEA affairs and trade relations with Ministers   23.11.2018
    The meeting with Ministers in Geneva was chaired by Halldór Árnason from the Confederation of Icelandic Employers.

    On 20 and to 23 November 2018, the EFTA Consultative Committee (EFTA CC), which brings together representatives of employers’ associations and trade unions in the four EFTA countries, met in Brussels and Geneva.
