  • EFTA Consultative Committee discusses EEA affairs and trade relations with Ministers   23.11.2018
    The meeting with Ministers in Geneva was chaired by Halldór Árnason from the Confederation of Icelandic Employers.

    On 20 and to 23 November 2018, the EFTA Consultative Committee (EFTA CC), which brings together representatives of employers’ associations and trade unions in the four EFTA countries, met in Brussels and Geneva.

  • EFTA Parliamentary Committee meets with EEA EFTA Ministers and Chief Brexit Negotiator of the EU   21.11.2018
    The meetings were co-chaired by Mr Halldór Árnason and Mr Elfried Hasler.

    On 20 November, the EEA EFTA Ministers, the Committee of Members of Parliament of the EFTA States (MPS) and the EFTA Consultative Committee (EFTA CC) met at the EFTA Secretariat in Brussels. This annual meeting takes place in connection with the EEA Council and provides an opportunity for the two advisory bodies to discuss current EEA issues with the Ministers. MPS also met separately with the chief Brexit Negotiator of the EU, Mr Michel Barnier.

  • Challenges to gender equality and transport sector – EEA Consultative Committee   04.05.2018

    Social partners from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway and members of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) convened on 3-4 May in Reykjavik, Iceland, for the 26th meeting of the EEA Consultative Committee (EEA CC).

  • EFTA Parliamentary Committee members discuss Brexit with counterparts in the UK   12.04.2018

    A delegation of 19 members of the EFTA Parliamentary Committee (PC) met their counterparts in the Parliament of the United Kingdom (UK) and together they held a series of meetings with other high-ranking officials and stakeholders, during a three-day visit to London on 19-21 March. The main purpose of the visit is to discuss future trade relations between the UK and the EFTA States after Brexit.

  • High level seminar on European Labour Authority and Work-Life Balance   15.03.2018
    Mr Krzysztof Nowaczek from DG Employment outlined the main features of the European Labour Authority.

    On 13 March, the EFTA Consultative Committee (EFTA CC) and the EFTA Working Groups on Gender Equality, Anti-Discrimination and Family Policy, on Health and Safety at Work and Labour Law, and on Free Movement of Persons, Employment and Social Policy met in Brussels for a joint seminar on recent EU social policy initiatives.

  • EEA Joint Parliamentary Committee discusses Brexit and Energy Union   16.11.2017
    MEP Phiippe Lamberts from the EP's Brexit Steering Group briefs parliamentarians on the role of the European Parliament with regards to Brexit. With EEA JPC co-chairs Jørn Dohrmann and Svein Roald Hansen.

    On 15 and 16 November the EEA Joint Parliamentary Committee (EEA JPC) convened in Strasbourg to discuss several current topics high on the agenda in Europe today. These included Brexit, the Clean Energy package and challenges in the EEA with regard to EU agencies.

  • EFTA Consultative Committee discusses Europe on the Move and Work-Life Balance   15.11.2017
     EFTA Consultative Committee met in Brussels to discuss Europe on the Move and Work-Life Balance.

    On 14 November 2017, the EFTA Consultative Committee (EFTA CC) met in Brussels to discuss two new proposals from the European Commission: Europe on the Move and the Work-Life Balance initiative. It adopted its work programme for 2018, and held a separate meeting with the EFTA Ministerial Chair, the Liechtenstein Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Ms Aurelia Frick, to discuss free trade issues.

    The joint hosts, Chair for the MPS, Mr Svein Roald Hansen and the Chair for the EFTA CC, Mr Halldór Árnason, opened the meeting by welcoming the Ministers and members.

  • EEA Joint Parliamentary Committee discussed developments in the EEA   24.05.2017

    The EEA Joint Parliamentary Committee (EEA JPC) held the first of its biannual meetings for 2017 in Reykjavík on 23 May to discuss recent developments in the EEA. Brexit, social security coordination, the Energy Union and the Arctic was also on the agenda.
