Volker Täube, Director of ESO, represented EFTA at the fifty-first session of the United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC) in New York from the 3rd to 6th of March 2020.
The UNSC brings together the Chief Statisticians of National Statistical Institutes from around the world, as well as numerous international organisations that are active in the area of statistics. Amongst other things, the topics on the agenda concerned "data and indicators for the 2030 agenda for sustainable development goals", "coordination of statistical programmes", "the future of economic statistics", "international trade and business statistics", "environmental accounting" and "demographic statistics". The colleagues from the Swiss Statistical Office provided in addition information on the World Data Forum 2020 which will take place in October this year in Bern.
