The EFTA Statistical Office (ESO) in cooperation with Eurostat, and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) will finalise the Global Assessment of the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic next week. The final report of this Global Assessment is expected to be finalised in the first half of 2021.
This Global Assessment is jointly conducted by ESO, Eurostat, and UNECE at the request of the Kyrgyz Statistical Office. The leading expert is Mr. Hallgrímur Snorrason, who is the former Director General of Statistics Iceland. The first mission took place in January 2020; the second mission (conducted online due to Covid-19) focuses mainly on the comments made by the Kyrgyz Statistical Office on the draft version of the Global Assessment report delivered in 2020.
Global Assessments are stocktaking exercises conducted regularly on request of National Statistical Offices. These assessments evaluate institutional and legal organisation, as well as statistical production according to the Statistics European Code of Practice (ECoP) or the UN Fundamental Principles of Statistics (FPoS).
