Second meeting of the EFTA-Jordan Joint Committee

Representatives of Jordan and the EFTA Member States met in Geneva 18 December 2007 for the Second meeting of the EFTA-Jordan Joint Committee.

The Jordanian Delegation was chaired by Ambassador Musa Burayzat, Permanent Mission of Jordan, while Ms Anniken Mordal, Chief Negotiator for the Norwegian Ministry of Trade and Industry, Economic Policy Department, acted as EFTA Chairperson.

The Joint Committee discussed among other issues recent developments in the fields of customs and origin matters, agricultural products, services and investments, public procurement, and intellectual property rights. They also exchanged views on how the parties can enhance cooperation.

The parties further discussed the economic development of Jordan and the EFTA States and the developments of trade between the EFTA States and Jordan. In 2006 trade between EFTA and Jordan amounted to 166 million USD, a 31.9% nominal increase compared to 2005.
