Palestinian Authority receives training with support from EFTA

In the framework of a technical cooperation project financed by the EFTA States, the University of Bern’s World Trade Institute provided a one-week training course on trade regulation from 7 to 11 October 2012 in Ramallah.

The Palestinian Authority has applied for observer status at the World Trade Organization. In that context, trade in agricultural products and compliance with sanitary, phytosanitary and technical standards are among the Ministry of National Economy’s priorities for capacity building.

The five-day, tailor-made course focused on these subjects and was attended by around 40 Palestinian government officials and scholars.

This project follows several other trade-related cooperation activities financed by EFTA since the entry into force in 1999 of its free trade agreement with the Palestinian Authority.
