Following the conclusion in principle, reached in Buenos Aires on 23 August 2019, Heads of delegations from EFTA and Mercosur resumed contact after an extended period. A meeting was convened on 10 June 2020 through videoconference to take stock of the state of play of the issues outstanding in the ongoing legal review and to discuss the way forward.
The delegations were led by Mr Jan Farberg, Director General at the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries, on the EFTA side, and José María Arbilla, Director for International Trade Negotiations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship of Argentina, on the Mercosur side.
Further details on the EFTA-Mercosur free trade agreement can be found in a Chapter by Chapter Fact sheet on the free trade agreement.
