The Deputy Secretary-General of EFTA took part as a panellist in the opening policy debate of  the UNCTAD week focused on non-tariff measures (NTMs) and used the opportunity to present EFTA and its activities in this regard.

The annual UNCTAD NTMs Week, held at the UN Headquarters in Geneva, is a platform for policymakers and researchers to discuss issues surrounding the impact of non-tariff measures on international trade and sustainable development.

Non-tariff measures affect some 90% of world trade and all areas of our everyday lives.

The aim of the session was to focus on the  possible instruments to strengthen regional and multilateral cooperation and how such cooperation can achieve better trade integration, while promoting sustainable development.
