At their second meeting in 2012, the Subcommittee I-IV delegations discussed legislative acts currently under consideration by the EFTA side, including the Regulations establishing the three Financial Supervisory Authorities and the European Systemic Risk Board, the Telecom Package and the revised Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS). The Third Legislative Energy Package, the Paediatric Regulation, the Directive on simplifying terms and conditions of transfers of defence-related products within the community and the Community Legal Framework for a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) were also topics of discussion.

Delegates approved the Subcommittees I-IV Work Programme for 2012 as well as Protocol 4 of the Surveillance and Court Agreement. Information was provided on developments with regard to the Single Market Act, with presentations on the State of Play of the Act, the Single Market Governance Report, the Single Market Week and the eCommerce Package. The delegations were informed that the Commission had signalled an interest in the autumn 2012 EEA Seminar which will focus on the evolution of the Single Market and therefore the possibilities to hold this seminar or organise an EFTA event in conjunction with the Single Market Week were being considered.
In the afternoon, the Subcommittees met with the European External Actions Service (EEAS) as well as with Commission representatives and discussed numerous legislative acts, including the Paediatric Regulation, GM Food and Feed, acts in the field of statistics, and the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC).
