
On 8 July, EFTA House hosted its first meeting of the EEA Joint Committee as the EEA States now chair the committee after taking over from the European Commission. The meeting was presided over by Mr Kristján Andri Stefánsson, ambassador of Iceland to the European Union, and by Mr Nicolas von Lingen for the EU.
In total, 27 Joint Committee Decisions (JCDs) were adopted at the meeting, incorporating 38 legal acts. Among them are acts concerning equal treatment of men and women, veterinary issues, and financial services.
Among the items on the agenda was the EEA EFTA Comment on the Commission Proposal for a Regulation establishing the Union Secure Connectivity Programme and a briefing on the European Commission’s REPowerEU plan.
