The members of the EFTA Consultative Committee are now meeting online on a weekly basis. The Committee is chaired by Jan Atteslander.
Since the coronavirus lockdown in mid-March, the EFTA Consultative Committee (EFTA CC) has held weekly video conferences addressing the large impact of the pandemic.

On Thursday 16 April, the EFTA Consultative Committee held a video conference with a focus on how the labour market is impacted by the pandemic and which strategies can be taken to restore the economies. Around 70 participants enjoyed expert contributions from Anne Louise Aartun Bye, Director of Labour Policy of the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO), Reto Wyss, Secretary General of the Swiss Trade Union Confederation (SGB) and Alfonso Arpaia, Deputy Head of Unit in DG Employment and Social Affairs of the European Commission (DG employment) about the economic impact of COVID-19 and measures taken in Norway, Switzerland and the European Union.

The EFTA Consultative Committee will continue to meet virtually during the lockdown to discuss important issues related to the pandemic. On Thursday 23 April, the Committee will discuss the impact of covid-19 on global supply chains with Roberto Azevedo, Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), and Dr Simon Evenett, Professor of International Trade and Economic Development at University of Saint Gallen, Switzerland.

The Consultative Committee is a vital platform for dialogue and consultation between the EFTA social partners and the EFTA authorities. Read more about the Consultative Committee here.
