Norway takes on Chairmanship of EFTA Council and presents priorities

The EFTA Council met in Geneva on 11 July under Norwegian Chairmanship.

Delegates discussed the follow up of the EFTA Ministerial meeting held in Malbun on 24 June, and reviewed the Member States’ third country activities, namely with Mercosur, Palestine, SACU, GCC, and Mauritius.

The Norwegian Chair presented the priorities for the second half of 2019. Among the priorities is to conclude free trade negotiations with Mercosur and to resume negotiations with India. Negotiations with Malaysia and Vietnam will continue in order to make substantial progress and the aim is to conclude the review of the existing Agreement with SACU.
