Ambassador Högni S. Kristjánsson met with Secretary-General Kristinn F. Árnason on 22 August 2016 in Geneva to present his credentials as Iceland‘s representative to EFTA.
Ambassador Kristjánsson took up his duties as Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Iceland to EFTA, the WTO and other international organisations in Geneva on 1 August 2016, succeeding Mr Martin Eyjólfsson. Previously, he served as Director General for the Directorate for External Affairs at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Reykjavik. He had held various positions in the Icelandic Foreign Service since 1999, including Director of European Affairs and Deputy Head of Mission at the Icelandic Mission to the EU in Brussels from 2003 to 2008.
