The Committee established under the EFTA-Mongolia Joint Declaration on Cooperation (JDC) held its second meeting on 5 October 2017 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
Mr Pascal Schafhauser, Deputy Permanent Representative of Liechtenstein in Geneva, acted as the EFTA Spokesperson, while Dr Vorshilov Enkhbold, Director-General, Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led the Mongolian delegation.
The Joint Committee reviewed developments in bilateral trade and investment flows, exchanged information on activities in the field of preferential trade agreements and discussed potential areas for closer cooperation.
The JDC between the EFTA States and Mongolia was signed on 28 June 2007. In 2016, EFTA-Mongolia merchandise trade (imports and exports) amounted to USD 778 million, which indicates a steady increase over the past few years.
