Ambassador Luzius Wasescha who served as Permanent Representative of Switzerland to EFTA from 2007 to 2012 sadly passed away on 12 October.
Ambassador Wasescha was the Permanent Representative of Switzerland to EFTA, WTO, UNCTAD, UNECE and ITC from 2007 to 2012 and chaired the EFTA Council in that capacity in 2008 and 2010.
He dedicated most of his working life to the liberalisation of trade in various forums and was the chief negotiator of Switzerland in the EFTA Free Trade Negotiations with Ukraine as well as with the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
Ambassador Wasescha was a great friend of EFTA and made a mark on the work of the Association. He is remembered with gratitude by colleagues in the EFTA Secretariat and in the EFTA Member States alike.
