20 years of sustainable development in Europe - a guide for citizens
Published: 21-06-2012
In connection with the Rio+20 summit on sustainable development, Eurostat has published a statistical guide. The publication also includes figures for the EFTA countries.
This Eurostat publication has been released to mark the 20th anniversary of the first Earth Summit. Its writing style makes the statistical guide pleasant to read. It is narrated through the eyes of Ann - a 17 year old student - who has to explain to fellow students from around the world about whether Europe has moved towards sustainable development over the past 20 years. The guide brings statistical figures from EFTA countries and from the 27 countries of the European Union in various sustainable development fields.
