For the first time one can compare the situation and development of EFTA regions with EU regions in a coherent way. Eurostat - the statistical office of the EU - has also included harmonised and comparable data for the regions of the EFTA states in the Eurostat regional yearbook 2007. The EFTA National Statistical Institutes and the EFTA Statistical Office have contributed actively in this process.
In this publication you can find information about the economic, social and demographic development across Europe's regions. Also included is a chapter on urban statistics which plays an increacingly important part of regional policies. More regional statistics for the EFTA states are expected to be covered in the coming editions.
