Published 26-10-2012
The Joint Committee established under the free trade agreement between the EFTA States and Serbia convened for the first time on 25 October 2012 in Geneva.

Since October 2010, the EFTA-Serbia free trade agreement has entered into force successively for all Parties. Taking stock of this initial period of operation, the Joint Committee expressed its satisfaction with the smooth implementation of the agreement, timely dismantling of customs tariffs and positive trends in bilateral trade. Delegations also addressed areas for possible further development of the agreement.

The EFTA team in the Joint Committee was headed by Ambassador Elin Østebø Johansen from Norway, while Assistant Minister Bojana Todorovic led the Serbian delegation.

Total bilateral merchandise trade between the EFTA States and Serbia amounted to USD 272 million in 2011. EFTA-based companies are also significant investors in Serbia.
