Competition / State aid / Procurement / IPR

An important objective of the EEA Agreement is to ensure a fair and efficient market, which will benefit individuals as well as the society as a whole. Economic operators should compete on a level playing field, without unfair competition from cartels or companies that dominate the market.

In general, they should not have to compete against companies that receive state aid, and the competition for public contracts should be fair and transparent. Intellectual property rights should be protected in order to stimulate further research and investments. In order to achieve these objectives, the EEA Agreement contains EU legislation in the field of Competition, State Aid, Public Procurement and Intellectual Property Rights.
