Strengthened cooperation between European Public Employment Services

Published 14-11-2014
On 13 November 2014, an EU decision on enhanced cooperation between European Public Employment Services was incorporated into the EEA Agreement by written procedure.

European public employment services play a crucial role in helping the unemployed find jobs. With the aim of delivering more flexible, modern and user-oriented services, the European Union has decided to strengthen cooperation between these services by launching the Public Employment Services Network. This is a new cooperation structure created to help the EEA Member States further coordinate their policies and actions against unemployment, reinforcing the European economic governance framework.

The new structure will provide greater opportunities to compare public employment services’ performance against relevant benchmarks, identify good practices and improve cooperation, including through mutual learning and peer-to-peer assistance programmes.
