The Standing Committee of the EFTA States met on 23 April. In the meeting the Icelandic Chair presented its Mid Term Report. The Committee also took note of an analysis by Subcommittee V on the Single Market Review and its impact on the EEA, and agreed to forward this to the Consultative Committee that had requested it.
Furthermore, the Icelandic Chair briefed on the notification from the Iceland Government of 1 April regarding a modification of the protective measures under Article 43 of the EEA Agreement notified on 28 November 2008.
In the EEA Joint Committee Meeting the following day, 13 Decisions incorporating 23 legal acts were adopted. The EEA EFTA States reiterated their request for a high level meeting to discuss their access to posts within the Commission’s Executive Agencies. The Commission proposed 30 April to discuss the matter. The Commission raised the delayed entry into force of the Food Law Package of 26 October 2007 because of parliamentary procedures in Iceland.
The Joint Committee approved the EEA Joint Committee Progress Report for the EEA Council on 19 May.
