The Standing Committee met on 4 December. The Icelandic delegation presented a Notification of protective measures under Article 43 of the EEA Agreement followed by exchange of views within the Committee. The Norwegian delegation informed on the status of the national implementation of EFSA in Norway. Discussions took place on EEA EFTA participation in the European Institute of Gender Equality and on the letter from the Consultative Committee of 28 November 2008, regarding an analysis of the Single Market Review and its impact on the EEA.
The Standing Committee concluded the issue of the proportionality factor and cost-sharing formulae for Liechtenstein by adopting two Decisions, one amending the Decisions on establishing a principle of cost sharing for the EEA Financial Mechanism and the other one establishing a principle of cost sharing.
The following day, the EEA Joint Committee adopted 5 Decisions incorporating 9 new EU acts into the EEA Agreement. The Icelandic delegation presented its Notification of protective measures under Article 43 of the EEA Agreement. Norway informed the Commission on the status of the national implementation of EFSA and the Commission informed about the internal deliberations taking place on the issue of the access for EEA EFTA citizens to work in the European Commission Executive Agencies.
