At a joint meeting with the EFTA Ministerial Council in Vaduz, Liechtenstein, on 28 June 2007, the EFTA Consultative Committee presented a statement on the need for a social dimension in the new Northern Dimension Policy. The Committee welcomed the new and more ambitious Northern Dimension Policy with joint ownership between the EU, Iceland, Norway and Russia, and encouraged the relevant EEA EFTA authorities to take an active part in the new policy with the aim to achieve strong and tangible results. The Committee asked for the support of the relevant EEA EFTA authorities to develop a social dimension in the new policy, along the lines of the Northern Dimension parliamentary forum that had been established in March 2007.
