On Friday 7 December 2007, the EFTA Consultative Committee met with the EFTA Ministerial Chair, Mr Dag Terje Andersen (Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry) in Oslo to discuss EFTA's third-country relations, latest EEA developments and the extension of the EU greenhouse gas emission trading scheme to the EEA EFTA Member States. The Committee and the Minister enjoyed a very open and fruitful exchange of views on matters of great importance to the EFTA social partners.

The Committee also held an internal meeting in Oslo, focusing mainly on the new EU Single Market Review; the EU Reform Treaty and its impact on the EEA; and the role of ESA with regard to greenhouse gas emission trading and state aid rules. The meeting gave the Committee the opportunity to prepare for the meeting with the EFTA Ministerial Chair and for its work in the first half of 2008 when the Committee aims to prepare opinions on the Reform Treaty and on the Single Market. The Committee also agreed to continue to focus on third-country relations and the Lisbon Strategy in 2008.
