  • EFTA and Mongolia hold second Joint Committee meeting   09.10.2017
    Spokesperson the EFTA States, Mr Pascal Schafhauser and Head of the Mongolian Delegation, Dr Vorshilov Enkhbold met in Ulaanbaatar for the second Joint Committee meeting.

    The Committee established under the EFTA-Mongolia Joint Declaration on Cooperation (JDC) held its second meeting on 5 October 2017 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

    EEA EFTA Comment on a proposal to re-establish the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC)

    On 4 October, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway submitted a joint comment on a European Commission proposal to re-establish the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) to the Council.

  • Seventh meeting of the EFTA Council in 2017   21.09.2017
    Secretary-General Mr Kristinn F. Árnason and Director of the Secretary-General’s Office, Mr Adalsteinn Leifsson, conducted the seventh meeting of the EFTA Council. The meeting was chaired by Liechtenstein Ambassador Mr Peter Matt.

    EFTA-EU cooperation and third-country relations were among the topics discussed during the seventh EFTA Council meeting in Geneva on 19 September 2017.

    Liechtenstein, holding the rotating EFTA Council Chair for the next six months, presented its priorities at the Council meeting on 13 July.

    On 26 June 2017, the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) held its summer Ministerial meeting in Longyearbyen, Norway.The meeting was chaired by Ms Monica Mæland, Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry.

    On 19 May, at its third meeting of 2017 under the chairmanship of Norway, the EFTA Council discussed ongoing free trade negotiations, the upcoming Ministerial meeting in Svalbard and the recent EEA Council meeting, among other topics.

    The 56th Annual Report of the European Free Trade Association, 2016

    The 56th Annual Report of the European Free Trade Association has been published. The report contains an overview of the functions and activities of EFTA throughout 2016 in the areas of managing the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA Agreement), EFTA’s worldwide network of free trade agreements (FTAs) and the EFTA Convention.

  • Council discusses upcoming Ministerial meeting   21.03.2017
    Council Meeting chaired by Mr Harald Neple, Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the WTO and EFTA in Geneva

    On 21 March, at the second EFTA Council meeting in 2017 under the chairmanship of Norway, the Council discussed preparations for the upcoming EFTA Ministerial meeting in the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard on 26 June 2017.
