On 21 June 2011, the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) will hold its summer Ministerial meeting in Schaan, Liechtenstein, which is holding EFTA's rotating chairmanship for the first six months of this year. The meeting will be chaired by Ms Aurelia Frick, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Liechtenstein.

Ministers will discuss relations with the European Union and their global free trade partners. They will also hear statements from the EFTA Surveillance Authority and the EFTA Court, and hold meetings with EFTA’s two advisory bodies, the EFTA Parliamentary Committee and the EFTA Consultative Committee, the latter consisting of representatives of labour market organisations in the EFTA countries.

At the occasion of the meeting, Ministers of the four EFTA States will sign a Free Trade Agreement with Hong Kong, China, which will be represented by Mr Gregory So, Acting Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development. Hong Kong is one of EFTA’s major trading partners globally and the Agreement will reinforce EFTA’s engagement with Asia. EFTA has already signed 22 free trade agreements with 31 countries and territories outside the European Union.
